The Mississippi Squirrel Revival

A couple of months ago, my friend Lisa Shay shared a post about her opinion of (read: hatred of) squirrels.

I've given it some thought and I think it is unfair that these little fellows have been unfavorably lumped into the same category as rats. Rats are scavengers. They are sneaky, gluttonous, trash-eaters. Squirrels are foragers. That alone implies a higher intelligence and almost nurturing quality. Not only that but they are thoughtful, plan-ahead kind of critters. And so, I've taken a liking to these would be tree vermin.

Lisa will be greatly dismayed to find out that while she is fiendishly working her capture and release program, there are people like us doing the unimaginable...feeding them! She will be more dismayed to find out that we've left a trail of sunflower seeds from our yard to hers. =)

Aime,
Just wait until they come knocking on your window because they are out of food....
Not only will it scare you but then you will know how far gone you are..( speaking from experience). Enjoy!

i used to have a bird feeder that hung in front of my kitchen window above the sink, and squirrels would always steal the bird seed. one day i sprayed a squirrel with the sink sprayer and that night, the screen on the kitchen window was shredded with squirrel claw marks. i kid you not. he was royally ticked. (or he had one of his friends do it!) actually, i think they are pretty adorable.

yikes! Maybe I better rethink this. I don't want to be on the news: "mobile home chewed apart by angry squirrels...red-headed mom still missing."

It's like some kind of freaky Alfred Hitchcock movie.

Wait. What's that gnawing sound?

uh-uh-huh-huh...said in my best Beavis and Butthead voice,
HOW IN THE WORLD DID I MISS THIS POST???????????????????

You'll never guess how I stumbled upon it. I'm too embarrassed to tell in front of all your "listening audience". Ask me later.

Thanks for reminding me to rebait the squirrel trap. I knew it was downright boring around here for some reason. That's IT! Haven't be catching squirrels!

Titus and I will have to set that baby up real soon.
