Tomorrow

I will be 34 tomorrow whether the sun comes up or not. I was thinking earlier about all the great things a 34 year old can do that a 33 year old can't. Yeah, there are none. And all the great places a 34 year old can go that a 33 year old can't. Nope. None of those either. So, what exactly is the point of turning 34? Just to mark the passage of time and orbits around the sun? I guess so. But I'm okay with that.

As Nathan was heading to bed tonight he sweetly said, "One more day of 33, Mom." He climbed in my lap, melted in like he's so good at doing, and wrapped his arms around me. "I'll never see my 33 year old Mom again" he mused. Tim and I laughed. What a funny little brain he has to put it in those terms. As I was still chuckling, I looked down and realized that he was crying. It was such a sad, funny, sweet moment. I said, "Nathan, you know that I'm not going to wake up tomorrow and be different than I was today, right?" He agreed and dried up the tears.

On the one hand, he made me feel really old -like he thinks turning 34 clearly means death is eminent. But on the other hand, I felt incredibly loved by a little boy who likes his Mamma and doesn't want her to change too much from one year to the next.

Here's hoping I don't wake up with two noses on my face. That'll really mess the kid up.

It is Friday. THe 18th. Did you wake up? Are you feeling much more rickety and about to keel over?

JUst so you know -- being 35 for as long as I have --- I can tell you, it is all down hill from here on out. By June you are probably not going to be able to do more than a flight of stairs at a time.

I am reading the Driscoll book you recommended. Like it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sweet (OLD) Friend. I miss you.

Tara

Hey girl! I didn't check your blog yesterday or I would've known how OLD you were turning today and I coulda wished a Happy Super Fantastic Spectacular Birthday when I bumped into at Starbucks. Soooo, w/o further ado HAPPY 34TH BIRTHDAY! I was pregnant with Joseph, my eldest at 34. I have to say that I loved my 30s. So far, the 40s are even better! Embrace it, you earned it baby!

Happy birthday from one really old fart to a less old fart.
Well! Did you have two noses today? Funny I didn't get two noses just the one I have seems to get bigger each year. Why's that?
Love you girl. Praying for tomorrow.

Happy birthday! You'll probably get this message later, when you get home from your free birthday dinner at the Waffle House.

Who am I kidding? If you were at the Waffle House, I'd be totally jealous. Our closest one is in Kansas City. I LOVE the Waffle House. I hope you were lucky enough to have Waffle House tonight. Waffle House. Everybody now, GO WAFFLE HOUSE! Oh, right, umm, happy birthday again.

Lisa Slater -of all the southernism's you've accused me of I must admit that this one is dead on. I love Waffle House. I'm a scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, diced, and peppered (hashbrowns) girl all the way.

Next time if in MN we'll have to do a road trip. Waffle House for breakfast, PF Changs for dinner. oh yeah. What do ya think, Tara?
